Priory Road Area

Priory road area is a street in Tonbridge, England that has been around since the 16th century. Originally, Priory Road was known as Rotten Row and it was used for horseback riding. In 1852, the road became more popular with pedestrians and the name changed to Priory Road because of its proximity to Tonbridge Priory Church. The area saw an influx of new residents during WWII when American soldiers were stationed at Tunbridge Wells Racecourse.

The area between Priory Road and Pembury Road was developed after the owners of nearby farms sold off their land in smaller plots to a number of builders. The buildings that were built here range from small cottages, large villas with gardens, houses for farm laborers, some without any garden or yard space at all; these are still standing today as they have become landmarks within this bustling town.

The Priory Road area is a residential district in Tonbridge, Kent. The name derives from the medieval priory located there during the Middle Ages, of which nothing remains today except for an old well and possibly some masonry under flooring stones at one property on Pembury Road. Records show that plots were first offered for sale off Priory road to builders in 1852 with most of them being completed by 1865. Nowadays this part of PRIORY ROAD AREA consists mainly of narrow quite steeply sloping streets running up southwards from Priory Road to Pembury Road. Some surrounding roads have seen more recent development than others and while it has been largely retained as primarily residential use other uses are evident including local pubs and walking distance to the town centre, Tonbridge Priory and Tonbridge West station.

Priory Road Area is in the town of Tonbridge, Kent, England. In medieval times there was a priory located on this land that has since been demolished. priories were built here during medieval time periods but have long been demolished; mostly residential use now along with local pub usage

Starting at Tonbridge Station Car Park (South) located at 23 Priory Rd, Tonbridge TN9 2AQ drive east along priory road you will come across Parker Building Supplies located at Priory Rd, Tonbridge TN9 2BW

If you leave Parker Building Supplies located at Priory Rd, Tonbridge TN9 2BW and carry on east priory road and right on to pembury grove you will find D.I.Y Beads located at 11 Pembury Grove, Tonbridge TN9 2BS

Once you have left D.I.Y Beads located at 11 Pembury Grove, Tonbridge TN9 2BS head north up strawberry vale and you will locate Southern Cutters Ltd located at 6 Strawberry Vale, Vale Rd, Tonbridge TN9 1SJ

leave Southern Cutters Ltd located at 6 Strawberry Vale, Vale Rd, Tonbridge TN9 1SJ head west along vale road and you will see Tonbridge Station Car Park located at Angel Ln, Tonbridge TN9 1SG

leaving Tonbridge Station Car Park located at Angel Ln, Tonbridge TN9 1SG and head back on to vale road and you will see ahead of you Sainsbury’s Petrol Station Angel Centre, Tonbridge TN9 1SF

when you leave Sainsbury’s Petrol Station Angel Centre, Tonbridge TN9 1SF head east and you will locate Sovereign Motor Engineers 3A Sovereign Way, Tonbridge TN9 1RS
